Our Mission
The shared mission of the Wisconsin School Medicaid Coalition is ensuring that all Wisconsin school children receive the quality health care they deserve, including in the school setting. Kids need to be healthy to learn. Currently, the coalition is working to increase the percentage of federal Medicaid funds reimbursed directly to schools, where the funds belong. The coalition supports legislation to change state law and send 100% of the billed funds back to schools. Governor Tony Evers included this change in each of his last two state budget proposals. It was also introduced as separate legislation in both of the most recent two legislative sessions. 2025 AB 340/SB 349 had bipartisan sponsorship, with Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) and Senator LaTonya Johnson (D-Milwaukee) as lead authors.
Our Strategy
Surveys
We sent a survey to all Gubernatorial and Legislative Candidates. See below for the data of our most recent survey.
Advocacy
We do everything in our power to spread the word about the benefits of this reimbursement.
Teamwork
We have formed this coalition which includes many school related associations. All working towards one goal.
Working With Legislators
We will be meeting directly with Legislators and create strategies that will help get this legislation passed.
Both Gubernatorial Candidates have been sent the survey, and we have yet to get a response.
